スラングの由来、語源、成り立ち
「whatever」の由来や語源については諸説あります。一説には、古英語の「hwæt wé gárdena in géardagum þéodcyninga þrym gefrúnon」（私たちは昔、庭で国王たちの栄光を聞いた）という詩から来ているとされています。また、アメリカの若者たちの間で流行したスラングとして広まったとも言われています。
